I Old Frame League Madrid – Final

Over half a year and five awesome Game Days later, the I Old Frame League Madrid wrapped up on Sunday, September 25th with it’s Final tournament. The first Old Frame Vintage league played IRL came to an end and we simply cannot wait for the second season to start already!

Six players, who were granted entrance to the Final by participating at least in one of the previous stages, competed in this last tournament. The aim was not only to win the final and get a custom modified foil Sol Ring but also David Aparicio and Diego Obregón were competing for the League top spot. Tied as they were, whomever had the best score at the end of the day, would take the league and the awesome Necropotence prize.

Four rounds and twelve matches later, it was only Pablo Merino who remained unbeaten with a newcomer to the Old Frame Vintage metagame, Canadian Threshold. It was a great way for Pablo to end the first season of the league. After two consecutive 3-1 second place finishes, he finally got a win.

David Aparicio would end up in second place with a 3-1 record that was better than Diego‘s 2-2, giving him the league title.

The Champion of the I Old Frame League Madrid 2022 is none other than David Aparicio, posing with the well deserved trophy in the following picture.

Even if the decisive final match between Pablo Merino and Guillem Alomar was cast live in the League’s Youtube channel, there were some audio and video difficulties, so unfortunately this time is going to be harder to enjoy this beautiful tournament and particularly some of the new decks.

It’s so exciting to see new decks being played even on the last event of the season. We may have had only six players in the Final, but there were two decks that had had very little or no play in previous editions, plus some of the regulars playing their one and only’s.
