II Old Frame League Madrid – Day 1

The Old Frame League returned after a few months earlier in January 2023 with a new venue and exciting prizes for players to strive for! Tempest Store, located at C. de Timoteo Domingo 17, is the new host venue for the league, providing a fresh location for players to showcase their skills and compete for the champion title. Their journey towards that goal started with Day 1 of the II Old Frame League Madrid.

When the dust settled after five game days on the I Old Frame League Madrid there was just one question on every participant’s mind: “When does the next league start?” The Old Frame Vintage format had made its way to Spain’s capital and players of Old School, Premodern and other old frame-friendly propositions were starting to see the virtues of our Old Frame world.

One of the biggest highlights of this season’s league is the custom Old Frame playmat that will be awarded to the winner of each game day. This prize adds a new level of excitement to the competition, as players will be eager to secure their spot as the best in the league. No playmat for losers.

Day 1 of the II Old Frame League Madrid

With 10 players participating, Day 1 of the II Old Frame League Madrid was bigger and stronger than ever. The tournament was filled with familiar faces, including the winner of the first Old Frame League Madrid (and Days 3 & 4), David Aparicio, and I Old Frame League Madrid Final‘s winner Pablo Merino, as well as new and upcoming legends of the format.

The final round of the tournament was a showdown between Vedast Sanxis and Naro. Vedast was piloting his TPS deck, while Naro was playing his Animate Dragon deck.

The playmat and glory were at stake as both players were undefeated leading up to the final. Here is the video of that match, courtesy of Liga Madrileña de Old Frame.

In the end, it was Vedast who emerged as the victor, beating Naro 2-1 and finishing the league with a stunning 4-0 record despite the crazy first game by Naro.

Vedast’s victory, two-time MTG Old Frame League Online winner, solidified his place in the Old Frame community that he himself created.

The Old Frame Vintage format has been gaining popularity in Madrid and around the world, and the II Old Frame League Madrid was just a taste of what’s to come.
